The IT professional year program has been developed by the Australian Computer Society with the aim offering ICT (Information and Communications Technology) overseas graduates a practical pathway from university to employment and ensuing that they are job ready. Through an industry –relevant internship placement, it helps the graduates to acquire a better understanding of the Australian work force and expand their professional network for future employment.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
- have completed a recognized IT degree in Australia which provides at least 2 years of credit points.
- hold an Australian visa with full working and studying rights.
- meet the minimum English language test scores for a Temporary Graduate visa (485) – an overall IELTS minimum score of 6.0, with nothing below 5.0 across all bands or an overall PTE score of 50 with a minimum of 36 across all bands.

Participants who successfully complete this program may be eligible for 5 extra points towards skilled migration further improving their chances of permanent residency in Australia.

Location
IT PY program is offered in the following cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
Duration
Aimed at addressing the skill shortage in Australia, the program is generally delivered over a 44 – 52 week period. The first 32 weeks of the program focus on entry and advancement in the Australian Workplace and the necessary communication skills. The remainder of the course covers the internship placement whereby the graduates are provided practical ICT workplace experience in an Australian-based organization.
Fees
The fees for the program are set by the accredited providers but average around $12,930 – $13, 280.
